The Bayou Cane Fire Protection District is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners.

 

The Fire Chief reports directly to the Board.  The members of the Board of Commissions are each appointed for a two year term by the Terrebonne Parish Council.  As the governing board of an independent taxing district, the Bayou Cane Fire Protection District Board of Commissionsers has complete autonomy from the Council, once appointed.

 

The annual operating budget the Board oversees is a detailed public plan of the expected revenues and intended expenditures of the Bayou Cane Fire Protection District, which begins January 1st and ends December 31st.
